Kindle Fire is comming! Amazon is taking orders on the new Kindle In Color (Kindle Fire)

Are you ready to get one?
Lot's of rumors that this little thing will be one of the main competitors to the Apple iPad. No one knows yet. With date of release set to 15 november, the Kindle Fire is a long awaited addition to the old Kindle.

Here is the old one (I have one and I'm pretty happy with it):

and here is the new, shiny tablet that Amazon will offer at the end of this year:

Honestly, I am thinking to get one, although pretty happy with the old Kindle, I need to stay in the business :). I would be happy to be able to optimize some of my upcomming products to work well in both - Kindle Fire and the old Kindle, so having both will be of great help to me.
On the other hand if you just need to read stuff, I belive to old Kindle will be enough.

+

= Happy developer.

Me, Telerik, Introduction To C# programming book (some personal updates)

Ok, lot's of things happened recently.

First of all - I quit Telerik and got back to Veliko Tyrnovo.
A brave decision I have chosen in order to try to deliver more than it was expected from me ;).
This one was really though to decide as I really enjoyed being part of Telerik. A LOT!

Anyway, sometimes we need to sacrifice things in order to try to get to the next level.

And the next level for me is to try to do something for Veliko Tyrnovo (it is not my birth place, but I spent signifficant part of my life here and really love this city).

I thought it may be beneficial to the city if I quit Telerik and try to establish a company here + try to engage young potential developers attention so they get direction and momentum at a very early stage of their lives (not quite sure if you know or it is the same way in your country but here, it feels like there is a lot of depression).

It feels like the young people are somehow smashed and forced to belive they are no good, hence they become sellers in stores, car wash workers, gas station workers and stuff like that, just because they weren't directed at an early stage. They are vibrating at very low frequencies. Their frequencies are enough to just get them to graduate and find any job that will give them some money. No dreams at all.

To be specific - my company and my future initiative to try to help young developers have nothing in do one with each other so far.
Currently I am not an employer, I am not even a business entity yet.
All I have is some money (as usual - not enough for everything I think I need), some ideas, some dreams and a lot of energy.
The initiative with the young people is something I will do aside from my other activities. I imagine giving them materials, helping them answering questions, founding some user groups and things like that.

To be honest, I realise I have very limited capacity, I don't expect to make a revolution and make Veliko Tyrnovo "the silicon hills :)" but still, if I can help 1 or 2 young developers a year, that will be awesome and I believe it will lead in a signifficant improvement over the long run.

I am rising some money now for my company (well, yes, if you wish, count this as a marketing material, I am not asking anyone for anything, I am working toward this but will not return anyone with a good offer ;).

With all the friends (or should I use my network to look more like pro :) I think it is possible for me to get started and do some of the things I dreamed of.

Last but not least, I was involved in writing a book (I was one of the 30 authors) at Telerik. Leading this book was part of the work of Svetlin Nakov (check his blog to see more information about the Telerik Academy he is currently leading).
They updated us that the book is in pre-release stage (actually it is available for free download but I am really eager to see my name in a printed book ;).

That's all for now.
Wish you a great and productive day!!!

A program in Fortran :)

I am blogging from my university :).
In case you need to write a program in Fortran to calculate the length of a line between tow points, there it is:

program otsechka
implicit none

integer::p1x, p1y, p2x, p2y
real:: resultX, resultY
real::finalResult

write(*,*)'P1 x : '
read(*,*)p1x
write(*,*)'P1 y : '
read(*,*)p1y
write(*,*)'P2 x : '
read(*,*)p2x
write(*,*)'P2 x : '
read(*,*)p2y
resultX = p2x - p1x
resultY = p2y - p1y
! ** 2 is to the power of 2.
finalResult = Sqrt((resultX ** 2) + (resultY ** 2))
write(*,*)finalResult
end

Nice, huh ;).

Meet the first web server in the world! ... and the first release for this year ;)

I was browsing wikipedia to see some physical thinks about CERN and accidently found this image:

According to wikipedia this is the first web server, that sir Tim Berners Lee used in CERN when he invented the HTML to allow physisists to exchange scientific information.

Isn't this exciting?

From that server it started to end up here:

And this is not the end.
This is just the beginning.

How far can we go?
As I said, I think this is just the beginning.
We have the passion to achieve more.
We have the strength to achieve more.
That is why we do achieve more.

Push yourslef to the max,
don't worry about the controls, leave them to us :).

One more bar green :)

I am just writing to inform you that I managed to make another bar green, yesterday I successfully passed the "Electronic devices" exam and I have two more exams before I get back to the software world :).

It was obligatory for the exam to write some reports (not quite sure what is the real english word for this) - we had 10 practices during the session. Each one goal was to examine an electronic device (I think 7 analog and 3 digital or something like that).

After we made all the research we had an exam, we had to write a reports for each of the practices we made (you miss one and you can't have an exam, you need to re-work it with other students, which means more days off and more headaches).
I can't be unhappy that I passed it :). I have 4.5 / 6 which is kind of high score (for me, not for the university :).

Anyway now I have the same thing but related to optics, we need to do 10 different experiments, do the reports and pass an exam where they will ask us what did we measured for a random experiment we did, if the answer satisfies the profesors - you pass :). If not - you have another chance to take the exam, you fail on the 2nd chance and you need to re-work all the experiments again :(. So I will do my best in order to pass it from the first time (or in the worst case - from the 2nd :).

I also have some experiments (not exactly experiments) in something that will probably sound like "Probability theory and physical statistics" in english. We will study the probability theory and some statistical laws, then we will be given a set of data and will be asked to perform some actions on it (find the chance for each result to occur, find co-relations between data and so on and so on).

The rules for the exam are the same ;). You have two chances before you go to re-work all the classes.

I really hope I will not look like my idol at the end of this session:

Hopefully I will not write any more posts that are not related to IT but we will see ;).

Wish me luck ...

Wish me luck :)

I had some really long days. At telerik we are doing some nice but hard to do stuff, I have some university things to do. Some exams to take, some mathematics (Oh, my JustGod :(. My day is about 15-19 hours long (with few short breaks my brain is working all those long hours :).

But I don't write this post to complain. Exactly the opposite - I am writing to share how happy I am to be so busy those days as the bars are getting green, one by one, constantly they are getting green :).

I know I have some amount of tasks to do and I am trying to make all of them green (it is my code for "deliver what was expected", the green bars are "deliver more than expected").

Today for about 40 minutes I did 3 counters at the university - one which was counting up to 5, 1 - that was counting up to 10 (BCD code) and one that was having 10 states but wasn't actually counting :). (3 tasks - yellow :).

Few days ago I managed to fix about 200 comments on the chapter I am writing for the Introduction to C# programming book (seems kind of stable now, should be in CTP state ;).

I actually started this post to inform you about something that happened yesterday :).
This summer (I think it was July or somewhere around July) I was involved in a very interesting project - I was asked by a friend to write a software that will manage a machine.

The machine was having a printer (not simple printer but M600 Advanced printer, it has 4 heads, very hard to work with API and a TCP interface that was blocking the printer if two threads are sending command at the same time).
It was about printing something. So the program should check if the printer heads have enough ink, check some other sensors if everything is OK, and if not - it should stop the machine ...

Nice task that gave me some insight on how the OPC things work (don't ask :).

It appeared that OPC Servers aren't something to easilly deal with.
The main reason - not enough information, some closed standards - the paradise for a developers :)
Anyway we managed to finish most of the things.
Then I got a job at telerik and almost forgot about this adventure :).
Yesterday I heard from that friend and he told me that the machine was at Hannover and that it performed well (means no crushes :).

Now to finish - the nights while I was writing the code for that machine were as long as now. I didn't have time to sleep much. Now I feel happy with the result.
I wonder will I be feeling so happy once again after I manage to finish my sessions at the university ;).

Hopefully yes ;).
Sorry for making you read all this crap :).
Just remember - when you are so tired and is so hard to continue - recall your last victory and the next one will come ...

My chapter in the C# book is almost done!

I am about 80% ready with the first chapter of the book "Introduction to programming with C#" (this one was assigned to me on the initial meeting).
Lot's of things borrowed from the Java version of the book, still lot of things are new.

In the first chapter I teach the reader what he / she needs in order to create a simple console application.

Both ways are shown - using simple text editor (notepad in our case) and csc and using Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition (as being free for students).

I will mention #Develop. How to debug is also mentioned in the book.
I will soon (probably today) include some information about the .NET Reflector.

Wish me luck!

It is kind of mix of Y2K problem but for the next "end of the world" :).

You can take a look at http://bizarrocomic.blogspot.com/, you may find some more funny pics.

Good night :)

Nice little tool to help me with twitter.

I created a small twitter software what it does is to check each hour if I am listening to Winamp, get the song if possible and write it in twitter for me and the people who are eventually interested in what I am listening.
Here is the deal:

You can download it from here:
TWamp - Nice little twitter software

You can follow me on twitter from the following url:
My twitter profile

Please note: TWamp isn't very user friendly. You need to get along with it in order to use it ;).

Two new automated blogs

I've been very busy this month. All the exams (for microsoft certification, in the faculty and so on), my extended work day (from 9 to 20 as I was absent
from work for about a month and need to do some extra work to catch my collegues), some ongoing projects I was stupid enough to take and so on...

However, I've found some time to start two new blogs which I consider more as experiment than real blogs:

Sql Exceptions

and :

.NET Exceptions

Both blogs currently contain about 40 posts with Sql and .NET Exceptions which you may find helpful after time. I am saying after time as I plan to automate those blogs so the information there is posted by software and not by myself.

Also users are welcome to post comments. Soon I will publish special format of posts which you can use in order to give your opinion on specific exception and this exception will be automatically published in the post.

Unfortunatelly there is a limitation - Blogger allow me to only publish about 40 posts daily so I wasn't able to create posts about all the exceptions in SQL and .NET Framework.

I will batch post each day (may miss some of the days like weekends for example ;) so in few weeks both blogs will be up to date.

Very simple tool to watch ending Sedo Auctions

Few months ago I was interested in the domain trading business. It was interesting to me as it generated 14.2 million dollars back in 2006. It is based on speculla I think. Something like FOREX but not quite.

I registered two domains and placed them on Sedo Auctions.

I was also interested on how other domains are going so I decided to write a small tool. It will stay in your tray and will show you the auctions which are about to end the next 24 hours. The following information is gathered about each auction:

- Domain for sale
- Price
- Currency
- Time left before the auction is closed
- Google PR for each domain

The program is available for download from Chameleon Bulgaria

I decided to put a banner on this program so my domains
for sale are visible to the users (well, after all I spent some time on this program and I would really like ot have some incomes after all ;).

Here is a direct link to the program page on Chameleon Bulgaria may be found

businesscatalyser - a game?

Well, after I was too bored today I decided to do something interesting. So I made my own game. I decided to buy a domain and park it on the sedo auction, I also listed it for sale.

So here are the rules:
1. Park the domain and try to get as much clicks as possible (no spam or other black techniques).
2. List it also for sale but don't try to sell it for less then 1K EU (just to be more interesting)
3. You may use only home made software and public sites services in order to promote the site.

Here is the site : BusinessCatalyser.com (don't laugh about the name, I wanted to have some very competitive keyword in the domain(business) so the game can be even harder and more interesting.

You may say this is a madness or losing time, but
as I was wondering how to promote this thing I made a little software which you may use in order to promote your sites. It is a small program which takes the words and searches for a sites with similar content, checks the PR of the sites found and reports you where it will be good to write a post.

Here are the basic stats of BusinessCatalyser.com :

SmartPageRank.com says this site costs 0 USD
Sedo.com says it is for sale and has no content, no PR, no links
It currently has 0.00 EU from the parking affair.

If you are interested in this game I will be happy to exchange information with you, just write a comment ...

Thanks for the attention ;)

New company - new luck :)

Yep, only in few hours I will be on my new desk in my new company :). I am very excitet about this. The new company is Vizibility and it is developing web modules. At first glance it seemed very very interesting with all the young people there. They were very hospitable on the interview and managed to earn my complete confidence. It seems that I did that too. After I met their requirements they met mine too.

So it is a big day today :). Wish me luck
